Details
Cullen Park is technically "Closed" on Christmas Day. Our usual parking lot and facilities will be unavailable. Restrooms will be locked. Use restroom elsewhere prior to arriving at park.
We can still get to the trailhead by parking at nearby Mayde Creek High School~ 19202 Groeschke Rd Houston, TX 77084.
Directions to Mayde Creek High School:
From Saums Rd~head north onto Groeschke Rd. School is 0.4miles ahead on left hand side. Group will meet in front parking lot area.
Hike begins promptly @ 9AM.
Hiking Path: Mostly shaded, flat & easy, out & back asphalt trail. We will follow walking path to Hwy 6 & return.
VERY IMPORTANT: Bring Bug Spray!! This trail is notorious for Mosquitoes!
Bring Water!
Also Bring: Sunscreen, Hat. Wear comfortable walking/hiking shoes. Any supportive sports type shoe will do.
Pace: 3 miles/hr.
Do not bring your dog. Dogs not allowed @ any events hosted by Houston Urban Trekkers.
Car break-ins are a big problem in Houston, esp. @ hiking trails.
Leave Valuables @ home or stow them in your trunk PRIOR to arriving @ parking lot.
