About us

"Know thyself" is the oldest instruction in philosophy, and the least explained. What would it actually mean to do it? What counts as knowing, rather than believing or feeling? Where does the evidence come from, and what gets in the way?

We're a group of people answering those questions from the ground up. No doctrine, no school, no method taken on trust only. We begin from the one thing everyone in the room shares: an "I" that is already asking. From there we reason, test each step against lived experience, and see how far the inquiry goes before it has to borrow anything from outside.

The question turns out to touch everything: why physics has never quite located the observer at the heart of all theories, why mathematics begins with distinguishing one thing from another, why psychology keeps circling the self it studies, and why contemplative traditions across cultures converge on the same few moves. We draw on all of these without deferring to any of them.

The premise is simple. No one can stop you from knowing yourself except you, and no one can do it for you either. You are all it takes. We are all it takes. The group is where that gets discussed, together.

Sessions mix discussion, guided inquiry, and short readings, with work to do in between. Meets once a month, hybrid (in person or virtual). No background required; curiosity and honesty are.
