High Bridge Rail Trail ride

From: Rick H.
Sent on: Friday, March 30, 2012 8:40 PM

A couple of weeks ago I sent out an announcement about a day/overnight mt. bike/hybrid ride along the High Bridge Rail Trail in Farmville, Va. There's a rumor going around that the official opening date is Easter weekend. Construction crews and inspectors are doing their final checks and if all goes well the trail will open from Pamplin City to Burkville, Va. and myself and the rest of the HROA gang (or any that want to ride) this historic trail will be heading up early Sat.morning April 21st. This ride will be a joint effort with Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club. I currently have appx. 12 people signed up  and all but 2 are staying over night. There are 3 options for this ride, overnight 64 miles round trip, one way 32 miles, or round trip 64 miles in one day. I still have room for riders but will need to have a cutoff date which is Fri. April 13. I had a lot of emails when I first announced this event but interest has slacked off. It's time to shake the cobwebs off of you and your bike and get out there and ride! This should be a great ride through a mixed terrain of woods, fields, farms, and small towns. We may encounter bear, eagles, fox, beaver, and maybe a couple of hairy legged mountain women (just kidding). Jump on this ride if you can it should be great fun. For those of you who have already signed up I'll forward motel info next week I'm trying to round out the numbers do I can pair roommates.
