What we’re about

This group aims to bring together people who have an interest, relate to or identify as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS).

Do you relate to Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS)? Want to hang out with like-minded people? Not sure but want to find out more? Feel free to pop by and contribute or just listen to others' stories!

There's no obligation to have to speak at a group setting and no pressure to stay for the entire duration of the meet up.

Intro of HSP:
According to the psychologist Elaine Aron, the highly sensitive person (HSP) is personality trait that roughly 15-20% of the population can relate to. Her research on the HSP trait, or in the scientific term - sensory processing sensitivity (SPS) can explain why some people react with more sensitivity than others. Some examples of a HSP can include deeply processing of physical/external stimuli (e.g. sensitivity to bright lights or noisy settings), or emotional empathy (maybe other people's moods can affect you).

What's the difference between HSP and SPS?
According to Aron, they both essentially refer to the personality trait. SPS is the scientific term and HSP is the commonly known term. HSP is not to be confused with hypersensitivity which has its own medical definition.

Meet Up logistics:
- (mainly) held at The Castle, or when the weather is warm - in a park nearby. (I'm still scouting other suitable venues)
- in-person every 4-6 weeks
- online (paused for foreseeable future)
