As announced in the last meetup, HTML5mtl is taking the "Montréal style" route, which means being bilingual with presentations in French, but also in English. HTML being an open technology, we should be too!

Node.js is a runtime environment and library for running JavaScript applications outside the browser. Node.js is mostly used to run real-time server applications and shines through its performance using non-blocking I/O and asynchronous events. This talk will introduce you to Node.js by showcasing the environment and its two most popular libraries: express and socket.io.

Rami Sayar
Rami Sayar is a computer engineering graduate from McGill University. He has been active in the fields of software engineering and design. While pursuing his studies, he has worked for hot startups in Silicon Valley and for Fortune 500 giants.
Rami founded the Code Jam @ McGill, the university’s largest engineering competition, in order to improve training in his field. In 2012, he was awarded the Scarlet Key for student leadership and significant contributions to the McGill community.
Rami is a frequent speaker in the Montreal circuit. His latest accomplishment was speaking at TEDxHEC where he conducted a live experiment of large scale democratic collaboration with the crowd.
Currently, Rami is working as a Developer Evangelist at Microsoft based in Montreal. At the end of the day, Rami is prevented from sleeping by his curiosity for experimentation, his insistence on shipping high quality code and helping startups survive the grind.
