Telling your story is critical to making a strong first impression. This workshop will give you the opportunity to practice your interview introduction and receive constructive feedback. We’ll then move into a discussion on creating your SOAR stories, which participants will practice in next week’s session.

Members will practice delivering a confident, concise interview introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the conversation.
Consider using the following to develop the introduction you wish to practice.
Example of a Professional Introduction (30 seconds)
“Thanks for the opportunity to speak today. I’m _____, and my background is in operations and community engagement. In my last role, I supported a team of administrators and volunteers, improving communication workflows and helping streamline processes for events and outreach. I’m now looking for a position where I can bring strong organization, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills to a mission‑driven organization. I’m excited to learn more about how this role contributes to the team.”
Why it works: Clear, confident, and focused on strengths + direction.

A Simple Fill‑In‑the‑Blank Template:
“I’m ______, and my background is in ______. In my last role, I ______ (impact/accomplishment). I’m now looking for a position where I can use my strengths in ______ and ______ to contribute to a team focused on ______.”
