So, you want to be a portrait or figure artist? This class is essential for you. Speed up the learning process, “cut to the chase” and enroll in our new Sight Size measuring for the figurative artist and become a “Classical Illusionist”
Painting the cast using Sight-Size develops the ability to see shapes and proportions accurately, by continuously comparing the drawn shapes with the cast. This class will develop the accuracy of drawing skills, the ability to correctly judge and paint values, and finesse transitional tones and edges to give the painting the illusion of three-dimensions.The three main objectives of this class:
1. Drawing - draw the shapes of the cast in correct proportion, beginning with the big shapes then the smaller shapes.
2. Values- Learn to correctly judge values by using 5-7 tone scale which we will mix on the palette. We will begin by first establishing the three major value relationships: the light shape, the shadow shape and the background.
3. The Illusion of three-dimensions: Finally we paint the transitional halftones and soften the edges of the form. This step gives the painting three-dimensional qualities, and the form will take the 3D qualities of an object sitting in a space.
These are essential skills to have in your tool box as you move forward to painting
portraits, still life, illustrations, etc. What You'll Learn

Have you ever pondered the various ways of transforming your painting muse into an abstract expression of how or what you feel?
Seems a bit complicated, but worth a shot, right?
Take a photo of a specific scene that you are fond of, whether it's a downtown busy street, the ocean, a sweeping meadow, ect. and begin to understand its rhythm. Is it calm? frantic? Does it overlap in size and shape, is it warm or cool? Next, take your picture and crop it, blow it up, imagine it from a birds eye view.
Starting to sound interesting?
In this course with a working, professional artist, you will learn and develop a system of painting abstract imagery that will make your work grow leaps and bounds. Yeskel will explain the mesh between midcentury abstraction and realism and how it has evolved in today's art world. Learn to paint abstractly while staying in touch with traditional methods and techniques.

Scott Yeskel is an acclaimed oil painter who paints both representational and abstract cityscapes mostly of L.A. In the tradition of Diebenkorn, Richter and De Kooning. This juxtaposition leaves the work diverse on many levels. Yeskel's abstracts, layered in thick strokes of oil, speak of incorporeal places that harken back a mood or feeling from particular environments he has been. The representational work, on the other hand, leaves an impression of a snap shot gone by.
The work is balanced, both focused yet off kilter, sharp yet skewed. His bold color choices mix with various muted hues to pull together truly contemporary views of urban sprawl, and modern living.KLINE ACADEMY of FINE ART
