The Ripon Rowel Walk.
Ripon to Masham
12mls and 1200ft ascent, mostly on tracks and paths, some mud will be encountered, strongly recommend gaiters. The walk starts at North Bridge, just outside Ripon.Much of the walk follows the River Ure, passing thro the villages of North Stainley, Mickley and Hack Fall Woods, before finishing in Masham. The woods form a mini walk in themselves presenting visitors with a variety of follies, including the Grotto, Fountain Pond and if you get lucky, Lovers Leap. Frank will lead demonstrations

C walk (bit easier)
Jervaulx Abbey
Jervaulx Abbey to Masham

The walk will start with a few minutes to enjoy the peaceful ruins of
Jervaulx Abbey, where admission is by honesty box. It was founded in the
12th century when its Norman name appeared as Jorvalle, recognisable in our Yoredale. We continue through the park for a bit of road walk to High Jervaulx- beware of the ice-cream farm! We'll have to see what time it is. A bridleway takes us to Ellingstring, then the picturesque settlements of High Ellington and Low Ellington. After that, we may find mud on the field path to High Mains Farm. Then we take tracks parallel to the main road into Masham. 7miles, 500ft ascent
