Presentation topic:
Novel to Movie Script: The Creative Process of Story Adaptation

Abigail Hing Wen served as an executive producer for the adaptation of her New York Times bestseller novel LOVEBOAT, TAIPEI, now the film LOVE IN TAIPEI on Netflix. Abigail’s presentation will address overcoming the challenges of writing a full-length novel when it can be hard to get feedback beyond the first 15 pages. She’ll share ideas on teasing out the story’s voice and concept, creating story beats and a sound structure. Abigail will demystify how a book is adapted from prose to the movie screen. Early discussions with agents and publishers, script development, casting and filming on set, and editing the final cut come with many joys and some pitfalls along the way.

Abigail will be available to sign books and bookplates after her talk. Her next novel THE VALE comes out September 16. Please support by pre-ordering a hard copy at your local indie bookstore or Barnes and Noble.
