Free Adult Kayak Lessons
Details
Come join us this Sunday at Grand Harbor Audubon Preserve from 2pm-5pm, for Free Adult Kayaking Lessons. We’ll have 12 boats ready on the shore. No time slots, First-come/first out, and throughout the afternoon. BUT if you are NOT a Grand Harbor Resident, you will need to CALL ME at 215-896-8902 for Gate ACCESS.
We’ll be at a calm inland lagoon adjacent to Grand Harbor’s two Championship Golf Courses, The water is never over your head. During low water, you can access the Marina and Indian River Lagoon from this area, but the water has been running high lately, so we’ll probably stay put. This body of water is about the size of a large lake connected to the Indian River with tidal movement, but with much less wind exposure than the Indian River itself. It is a perfect place for beginners. This is also the area to return for manatee mating in March as motorized traffic is prohibited.
This event is more about being in the afternoon sun on the water and trying to keep the fish from jumping in your boat. It's intended to make those who may be uneasy about kayaking a little more comfortable. You will need to know how to swim or you will wear a life jacket. Paddle around, spot manatee, dolphins, jumping fish. Afterward or if you’re a land lubber, join us for cold sparkles on shore from under the trees. Stay and watch the sun dip; stroll the Butterfly Garden or bring your bike and peddle safely (except for old people driving). Text me to rsvp for gate pass , but let me know who you’re bringing.
This Event is free to all participants. However, we do raise money to support our efforts through any donations you may consider providing. Should you wish, you may donate in person or on our 501(c)3 website: ENTONCES.ORG.
