Butter Gap Loop; a Saunter
Details
We will begin behind the fish hatchery up the Cedar Rock Tr (CW), visit only 1 Cedar Rock Falls side trails, visit the abandoned beaver dam pond, connect with the Butter Gap and return downhill on the (newly developed mountain bike friendly) Buttergap switchbacks. Heavily forested ‘natural' surface with occasional rock & roots.
Up to 12 ppl are welcome to join us. Remember - hikes led by ‘the Curmudgeon’ tend to have pleasant surprises.
Difficulty: All the climb is in the 1st half of the loop. Bridges cross the streams. The downhill from the high point is constant. Popular mountain biker section.
Geriatrics are asked to bring their own BP cuffs.
We are the Sloth Hike Team of WNC: “We will get there when we get there.” We dare to go where the ‘real’ hike groups don’t !!
