What we’re about
The Wordcraft Collective is a community of Brussels-based authors writing in English. It is a place for poets, novelists and storytellers, for everyone with a creative spark and an itch to compose with language. If you are working on an on-going project, still looking for your voice, wishing to share your writing wisdom or craving inspiration, come and join us.
To write, one needs a room of one's own, but writing does not always have to be a solitary activity. Through regular writing sessions, writers' salons, courses by experienced instructors and other social events, we aim to provide a place where you can hone your skills, share frustrations and exchange ideas.
This is a paid event (40€). Obligatory enrollment through the website.
Join us for this 4-hour workshop, in which renowned screenwriter and film director, Eric Lamens, gives an introduction to the art of screenwriting.
How do you construct a screenplay? How do you make it interesting? How do you keep the story moving forward? What are the basic do’s and dont’s?
The workshop will cover the basics:
Three-act structure
Protagonist/antagonist
Dramatic objective & obstacles.
What is the inciting incident and why is it so important?
What is a setup and payoff and what is it used for?
Where and how do you start?
This will be illustrated with clips of The Godfather I. (It would be helpful if you could watch the movie ahead of the workshop).
The tutor will give you recommendations on which are the best books about screenwriting, so that you can continue to learn after the end of the workshop.
The workshop will finish with a practical exercise and Q&A about your own screenwriting projects
