During this meetup, we will be hearing about an art project that is coming to Spartanburg, and how we can help. They are interested in using Raspberry Pi's and need some assistance with the programming of the Pi's.

Tim and Robyn Farrell will be on-hand to describe the project in more detail.

The project is called "Seeing Spartanburg in a New Light". It is funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies and overseen by the City of Spartanburg, Chapman Cultural Center and curated by whitelephant productions and Spartanburg Art Museum.

The opportunity involves a "light" exhibit being constructed with and for the residents of the Highland neighborhood of Spartanburg. Short films created by the residents of Highland and others will be projected through the windows of an abandoned public housing complex in the neighborhood. The goal is to offer a way for residents to share their "voices" through digital art, and to teach digital arts skills to the children of the Highland area, leaving an ongoing legacy of collaboration -- long after the project is completed. We'll be meeting in the Hodge building in room 250.
