**** Please note that there are rumours that the Barking Park Cafe (t/a Big Friendly Coffee) is to close on 3 July. I will update this page with any developments **** See [https://www.facebook.com/BigFriendlyCoffee ](https://www.facebook.com/BigFriendlyCoffee)for possible updates. I imagine the plan is to find a new leaseholder.
Barking Park is fun to visit for families and we would love you to join us for an afternoon ride to the Park. We shall start from Goodmayes Park (Emerald cafe) at 2pm, South Park (Main gate: South Park Road/South Park Crescent) at 2.30pm, Valentines Park (Mansion) at 2.20pm and Wanstead Park (Tea Hut) at 2pm. Two rides will collect riders on route and we will all meet up in Barking Park with time to visit the children’s playground and the park cafe. If the weather is good it is a delightful park to explore. Marshals will ensure you get there safely and return back to your start point. Distances from each start point vary with the longest return ride of 10 miles being from Wanstead Park and the shortest from South Park with a return distance of under 5 miles.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. These rides are proving very popular with family groups who want to give their children experience of riding on public roads. Our routes follow cycle paths where possible and minor roads mostly. Marshals ensure safe crossing when we encounter busier roads, but parents must take responsibility for their children.
A bicycle with well inflated tyres and brakes that work ensures an enjoyable experience. We always encourage you to carry a spare inner tube for your bike, water to drink, sun cream and waterproofs – just in case!
