North Point and Badman Cave in the Catskills

Details

This is one of my favorite hikes. This quick route to North Point packs in a whole lot of excellent hiking: beautiful deciduous and pine forests, fun boardwalks, multiple forest waterfalls, many glacial erratics, an easy rock scramble, a delightful cave — and, of course, one of the most famous Catskills views.

The trail from Scutt Road makes for a much more secluded and remote-feeling route. And it has the benefit of being free; you don’t have to pay the North/South Lake campground fee to park at this trailhead.
North Point is considered a moderate hike by AllTrails. We will park at Scutt Road trailhead Parking lot, cross the road, and head uphill on Rock Shelter trail, to Mary's Glen and North point. Loop around to visit Badman cave on the Escarpment Trail. Then back to the parking area along Rock Shelter.

Altogether about 5 Miles, with an elevation gain of 770 feet.

Please be prepared! Bring your best bug spray, clean towel, dry socks, and plenty of water for you and your pup!
Let's enjoy a quick snack once we reach the high point!

(psst; were not doing the exact same trail)
