Peekskill Waterfront n more History Hike

Let’s do a Friday hike in a gorgeous place with diversified history. We haven’t been here since 2023.

Suggested donation: $5.00 as Meetup has doubled the fee that they charge me.

Optional after hike picnic either at the meetup park or another park just minutes away.

All start waitlisted wt preference given to regulars. Everyone is expected to stay wt the group.

Many people have walked all or part of the River walk. We will too. However, as a History Hike, we'll venture off at times for a more comprehensive experience. Lincoln campaigned there? What's St Francis Convent? The sitcom "Facts of Life" was fashioned at a very nearby former school that we can see from our walk? Fleischman's Distillery and its 160 buildings was right there? And did the yellow brick road that we'll see really inspire the Wizard of Oz writer?

The hike: 6.5? miles. Easy mostly flat wt a few brief hills. Also one part into the woods on a barely there unmarked trail. Lunch at a picnic area in a beautiful spot.

Meetup: When you cross the rr tracks park on the lot on the right, which is the north side, by the bathroom. If full, park on the left side or around the block there's additional.

Bathrooms: There's a formal one right where we meetup.

NO GUESTS or pets. If you're on the waitlist you just can't show up. Liability waiver signature required. No early outs. Distance and finish time are approximations only.
