Garrison History Hike.

Details
This is a brand new History Hike in one of the most beautiful and historic places in the country. It is a popular area, but as a History Hike, we’ll employ an entirely unique approach that will feature the known sites but will also focus on the nooks n crannies, surprises and very seldom traveled unmarked side trails, while hearing their histories.
Suggested donation: $5.00 as Meetup has doubled what they charge me.
All start waitlisted wt preference to regulars while endeavoring to add some newbies.
Everyone is expected to stay wt the group. If you want to run ahead or lag behind, these hikes aren’t for you.
The slightly slower paced hike features the remains of a long gone estate, a Revolutionary War tale, a ruined hotel, exploration of the amazing former Mary Immaculate Convent grounds, forgotten gardens, River views and more river views, lunch at the gorgeous Garrison Landing. All of the fabulous Arden Point and more.
It’s about 5ish miles. Easy wt some minor hills. **There’s some off trail and areas along our route that have some overgrowth wt poison ivy along the sides of the trail. We wouldn’t walk thru patches of it, or other, but the summer weeds are bountiful and you need to be aware of that.**
Bathrooms: One port-o-john at the soccer field along the driveway to the Community Center where we meetup. That’s it.
Meetup: Philipstown Rec Dpt also comes up on gps. That’s fine. Next door is the Garrison Institute. That’s not it.
Liability waiver signature required. No guests, pets, early outs. Distance and finish times are approximations only. Never quote me. If you are on the waitlist you can’t just show up.
