Ft Montgomery, Bear Mt. and Postcard Scenery History Hike.

Let’s do a Friday History Hike in one of the most historic and beautiful places in the country. Postcard views!

We meet at the Ft Montgomery Hikers Lot, NOT the Historic Site/Museum. Please understand the difference and where the hikers lot is ahead of time. Please park tightly. Thanks.

After leaving the meetup lot, we'll explore the amazing Ft Montgomery Historic site. The Museum should be open, bathrooms, a.c. We'll then cross under the Bear Mt. Br. and into the Zoo. The Park assures me that the gate will be unlocked for us to enter. We'll do a complete walk thru of the wonderful zoo, then hike around beautiful Hessian Lake. We'll then step into the historic Bear Mt. Inn. There’s a Hikers Cafe there. Ok to get a bite there or just bring your own. That’s our lunch stop. Finally, we'll continue on to the spectacular Landing right on the water and adjacent to the cool RR freight line. Sometimes there are 100 cars or more! Who was Mrs Pell? What’s a Cooper? It’s an elk, not a deer?

The hike is around 6.5 flat and hilly miles. Much of it paved, stone steps, easy-moderate.

Bathrooms: NONE at the meetup so plan. One at the Museum which is our first stop. One at the Zoo. One or two in the Park itself.

As tempting as it will be to linger wt the exhibitions and at the Inn, everyone is expected to move along and stay wt the Group, as we are hiking first and foremost.

Possible after hike hangout at the very nearby gorgeous Mine Dock Park. We'll discuss.
