This is a brand new History Hike being done identically on Sunday 11-2 and Saturday 11-8, that features multiple trails and access points along the very lesser traveled and very underrated Croton River. We’ll talk about its surprising and significant history while visiting several access points. We’ll also hike a part of the OCA and do a full exploration of Croton Dam/Gorge Park. I’ve got great pics of this incredible wonder.

Suggested donation $5.00 as Meetup has doubled what they charge me. All start waitlisted wt preference to regulars while endeavoring to add a few newbies. Everyone is expected to stay wt the group. Do not run ahead or lag behind. Thanks. Slightly slower paced hike.

The hike: I never done this one before so a guess of 6-7 miles. A combination of trails, brief side streets, some tangible brief steep up’s n downs, some off trail. Lunch at the Gorge Park.

Bathrooms: None at the meetup so plan accordingly. Multiple port-o-johns at the Gorge Park, which about the half way point.

Liability waiver signature required. No guests, pets, runners, beginners, early outs. Do not quote me re distance and finish times. If you’re on the waitlist you can’t just show up.

So let’s explore a very underrated beautiful river and spectacular park while learning their histories and how they are connected.
