Greenwich Point History Hike

It’s been two years since we’ve visited this popular gem. Time to return. (Assumes access and conditions are unchanged which I’ll check shortly). This is a short hike/guided tour. Optional picnic/hangout after. See below.

Suggested donation $5.00. All start waitlisted. Slightly slower paced. Everyone is expected to stay wt the group.

PARK: You'll travel along a causeway at the end of Shore Road. At the end there's an admissions booth. {Free admission this time of year}. This is the Park entrance. After the booth is a parking lot on the right. That's it, FIRST LOT ON THE RIGHT. Park at the far end away from the lot entrance. I'll be there early. If this particular lot is full, there are others adjacent. So, if our meetup lot is full, I'll post a comment to let you know where I'll be, very nearby.

**Formal bathroom should be open at the meetup. However, it is several hundred yards away and will take at least 10 minutes round trip so plan accordingly.**

Greenwich Point Park is only open to residents most of the year, with just conditional access to non-residents. Residents know this to truly be a magnificent drop dead gorgeous place with different environs within one Park. Awesome water views, sand and shells, the remains of the J. Kennedy Tod Estate, {of course I have pics}, many historic buildings, walled garden, marsh, beach and more. Marvel at that monster Osprey nest! The hike is easy, flat, perhaps 3-4ish miles. Hard to tell with wanderings, but the shortest hike we do. The pace will be casual like a tour. Everyone is expected to stay with the group. There'll be numerous pauses as there's much to see. Lunch break in the walled garden. We'll be hiking on paved roads, dirt tails, sandy paths and the beach. Finish time is an approximation only, possibly earlier.

Bonus: At the end of our route is the beautiful and historic Environmental Center. It may or may not be open. However, it's located directly on the beach, adjacent to a picnic area, and a very cool place to hang. I plan to stick around for a while there. Hopefully a few of you will too and bring a casual snack to share. Optional.
