We have reserved a single campsite on a private island. Outing is limited to 6 people per DEC rules.
As of today (Jun 13) this event is on. However, due to medical issues on my part Jim will be leading it. We will be working together to ensure the entire itinerary goes smoothly.
This is a rain or shine event. Campers are responsible for themselves, their gear and meals (etc). Sites expenses and locally obtained firewood costs are to be divided by the number of campers and collected prior to the date.
The itinerary:
On day one we meet at the campground launch off rte 30 at 9AM. After signin, we pack our boats, check weather, launch and head out. It’s about 4 miles to our campsite island. The rest of the day is for setup of your site and relaxation. We usually all meet for a fire as dusk descends at one of the sites.
On day two a trip to Baldface Mountain, one of the special water access trails is planned. Bring your lunch to enjoy at the summit. The hike is all of 551 vertical feet according to All Trails, and it’s pretty easy. Paddle back to campsite.
Day three is devoted to leisure, fishing, swimming or paddles at will with fellow campers. Campers get to call this one!
Day Four is a trip to John Mack Bay, lunch at the appropriately named Lunch Beach (last outing's entertainment provided by a local loon) and an afternoon hike to John Mack Pond. The hike is over level to rolling terrain, it’s super easy to a really pretty spot. Paddle back to campsite.
Day Five we break camp and paddle back to our cars.
