Sterling Hill Mining Museum, Ogdensburg NJ!!!!

Please meet at 12:45 as the tour is at 1. I hope you can step aside from hiking and walking for something special. Come experience an amazing mining experience, the rocks, the history and the fun. I am so excited to bring this to you. The charge for admission is $15 per person, $14 for seniors.

If you've been lucky enough to join us in the past (with OCOF) you know how wonderful this event is. Feel free to comment!!! It is like Gertrude's Nose and every other cool event rolled into one. Please don't let the distance be your determining factor. It is very worth the drive. Hands down!!!!

We will travel to Ogdensburg, NJ and have a tour of the Sterling Hill Underground Mine and Mining Museum.

The adventure can start in Central Valley where we can gather to carpool from Chicago Uno/Dunkin Donuts right by the thruway. The trip is less than an hour from there. For those in the Middletown/New Paltz area you should carpool together, if you meet at WalMart in Middletown it is a 50 minute trip. Please post where you will be meeting us if you want to carpool. Feel free to drive yourself if you are not comfortable carpooling or are in a location closer than if you carpooled. MEET AT THE MINE AT 12:45 PM. My ending time is just a guess, I included dining time but not travel time. Don't quote me, I have no idea how long we've been in the past.

If you are a rock hound there is an option to collect the cool rocks that are in a rock pile for an extra charge. Check the website for more info.

Bring water and dress for the temps. It is cool in the mine (50s). Layers are always good. Hiking boots or sturdy shoes necessary, as well as snacks. We will dine afterward either at a cool place on the way home or in Central Valley.

Bad weather changes thing but only for driving, rain doesn't change things at the mine. I will post any changes in the comment section that morning.
