Please read Shroud by Adrian Tchaikovsky, nominee for the 2026 Hugo award for best novel. (First contact scenario on a dark, tidally-locked moon, focusing on two stranded human scientists, as they encounter a unique, hive-mind alien species. Shifts between the human survivors and the alien life, to explore themes of survival, communication, and the vast differences in alien intelligence and values.)
