October Hull Digital Meetup!

I'm delighted to announce the latest Hull Digital Meetup with two great speakers and some generous sponsorship, so please read on!

Firstly, a huge thanks to Sean and KC for sponsoring this MeetUp and the wonderful Rosie at Fudge is going to be providing nibbles and drinks throughout the evening*

Sean Royce, the Commercial and Finance Director of KC

Sean is going to be talking to us about two specific areas of the KC business right now:

KC Invest - an investment fund of £300,000 to provide start-up and growth financing for businesses in the digital and technology sectors in Hull and East Yorkshire.

The fund hopes to stimulate business growth in the region’s economy and help create new, sustainable jobs for local people. Sean is going to be telling us more about what they hope to do, how to apply and encouraging us all to get involved.

KC Fibre - as we know, KC have started trialling fibre in Woodmansey with speeds up to 100Mbps (that is pretty fast!). Sean is going to give us an update on what they have currently done, the results so far and the next steps of the trial.

Durham Marenghi, International event Lighting Designer

Our second speaker for the night is Durham Marenghi . Durham is an International event Lighting Designer and he is giving an amazing talk on The Stadium as Theatre for HDTV, describing the lighting of large scale events including the Winter Olympics in Turin and the London 2012 Handover at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing...

Durham has designed the lighting for a wide variety of Theatre, Opera, Dance, Trade, Concert and Television Productions and is the only British lighting designer to have lit the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of an Olympic Games.

I had the pleasure of meeting Durham recently and after seeing some of the photos from the events he has been involved with and seeing the technology involved, I knew he would give a fascinating talk.
