New Moon in Taurus: Coming Home to Yourself
Details
An Outdoor New Moon Ritual
What does your body actually need? What have you been telling yourself you should want, when something quieter inside you wants something else? When was the last time you tasted your lunch?
This New Moon is an invitation to come home to your body, your senses, and the present moment. It's a time to consider how you relate to yourself, especially your self-esteem.
The work of this gathering is to recognize the foundation you stand on, and witness what about yourself you honestly want to honor.
We'll work with that through divination/journaling, body-based meditation, and quiet inquiry into how you actually move through your days.
Returning from the Full Moon gathering? Welcome back! The cycle continues.
First time? Welcome. The altar will be set. The bowl will ring at 7:00 PM.
When: Saturday, 5/16/26 • 7:00–8:30 PM
Where: Leslie Groves Park, near the volleyball pit (see "How to find us" below)
Cost: Donation-based (no one turned away)
This is for you if...
- You want meaning outside traditional structures
- You want community without dogma
- You want a container for grounding and self-inquiry that doesn't require belief in any religion or practice
What to Expect (~90 minutes)
- Grounding meditation
- Self-paced inquiry: tarot, oracle, etc., or journaling (your choice)
- Guided meditation through your daily routines, with space to ask what you actually want to honor
- New Moon intention-setting: name what you want to honor in yourself this cycle
- Closing + integration
- Optional: linger for questions/discussion afterward (or head out, no pressure)
The vibe: Psychologically grounded, spiritually open, bodily honest. Expect silence, introspection, autonomy, and a self-directed pace. You're welcome to participate fully or observe quietly. This gathering asks for honesty about what your body actually needs versus what you've been told to want. Come willing to slow down.
What to bring
Required: Just yourself.
Optional:
- Journal + pen
- Your own tarot/oracle deck (community deck provided) or other introspective tool
- Water bottle
Provided: Community tarot deck, interpretation books, handout (spread/journal prompts)
How to Find Us
Meetup point: Leslie Groves Park, near the volleyball pit. Look for: A folding table with a black cloth, candles, singing bowls, and a red-bearded facilitator in a kilt with beaded jewelry. We'll be easy to spot. Can't find us? Post in the event comments or check the Human Rituals Facebook and/or Instagram page for day-of updates.
Weather note: We gather weather-permitting. Any cancellation will be posted by 3:00 PM on the day of the event. Check the event page, Facebook, or Instagram.
Consent, boundaries, and safety
- Autonomy first: participate as much or as little as you want. You can leave anytime.
- No forced sharing: you won't be asked to disclose personal details.
- Scent alert: incense may be used — please position yourself accordingly if sensitive.
- Photos: I may photograph the altar setup for social media. I will not photograph participants without consent.
- Support note: This is reflective work that asks you to look honestly at how you treat yourself. If you're in an active crisis, please have professional support in place. I'm a ritualist, not a therapist.
Who's facilitating? I'm Derrick. I create containers for transformation using guided visualization, divination, sound work, and shadow inquiry. My approach: psychologically grounded and mythopoetically rich; think reflective journaling + guided meditation + symbolic tools. No dogma required. All welcome: pagan, atheist, Christian, skeptic, seeker; all paradigms respected. LGBTQIA+ affirming. Neurodivergent-friendly.
