You are all cordially invited to attend a short reception to honor some of the members of our community and the work they performed during the BP oil spill. ?We will be hosting a reception on Saturday, October 23rd, at the Oak Wine Bar and Bistro, 8118 Oak Street, from 1:00 to 2: 00 pm. The reception will be part of our Inaugural Oak Street Pelican Block Party, in which Oak Street merchants will be focusing attention on the on-going needs of our coastal recovery efforts.
?During the reception, we will be honoring the work of P.J. Hahn, Director of the Coastal Zone Management Department, for saving marine life during the summer BP oil spill. ?PJ rescued several oiled pelicans and terns by hand - all of whom were close to dying at the time of their rescue. ?We will also be acknowledging the work of Roger Iverson, the founder and director of Defenders of the Coast, a local recently-formed non-profit which offers Hazmat training and other workshops, which are essential for response and recovery missions. Lastly, we will be publicly thanking Brandy Carter, of Entercom, for her work in supporting our organization and our varied programs throughout the year.
Wine and light beverages will be served. ?Kindly RSVP.
