The Secular Week of Action is May 1-10, 2020. During this week, local secular organizations work together to demonstrate our shared commitment to making this world, here and now, a better place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s emphasis is on actions that highlight compassionate outreach to our fellow humans in need. So let's support the Food Group!

The Food Group is accepting volunteers again! However, they are limiting the volunteers to a maximum of 10 per 2-hour shift. Furthermore, all volunteers must sign up as individuals, sign a waiver, and will be asked the 5 questions listed below. Since you will be signing up as individuals and anyone can sign up, this will NOT be a HumanistsMN sponsored event.

I have chosen Tuesday, May 5th 1:00 p.m. for a shift to sign up for since it currently has no signups. So if you, and other humanists, wish to join me and choose to quickly sign up, you may find many of your humanist friends volunteering alongside you. These slots tend to fill up quickly. (Note volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.)

The Food Group is following social distancing guidelines in all their current volunteer activities. They are supplying gloves but NOT masks (but you can bring your own!)

They will be asking the following questions of all volunteers:
o Have you traveled out of the State within the last 14 days?
o Have you had a fever, sore throat, or shortness of breath in the last 14 days?
o Have you been around anyone with previous symptoms or tested positive for COVID19 or influenza A & B?
o Do you have a serious underlying medical condition?
o Temp must be lower than 100.4 degrees via thermometer.

Hope to see you there!

PS: Let me know if you successfully signed up by leaving a note here! (Otherwise we are blind as to how many HumanistMN members managed to get in.) Also if you are told that the shift is "full", try again as we get closer to the volunteer date, since people do cancel. (They don't keep a waiting list.)
