Secular Grief Support Group ONLINE: Getting Your Needs Met While Grieving

Details

Losing a loved one can be a shattering experience. Amidst the upheaval and pain, it can be all-too-easy to neglect taking care of oneself or to seek out the help one needs. In this session, we’ll take stock of how we are doing physically and emotionally, consider the nuances of self-care during grief, and encourage one another with ways to reach out to others for connection and support.

This grief group is for those who have experienced the recent or not-so-recent death of a loved one. It is a peer-led group for people with no belief in a higher power or the afterlife. Participants are invited to speak about their own loss and share their current challenges with grief. We offer no professional grief counseling.

Rather than relying on religious beliefs, Humanists cope with grief in various ways, including finding meaning in our loved one’s impact on ourselves and on others, celebrating their lives through sharing and honoring memories, and sharing our stories of grief and loss. We believe that healing is possible, and that in sharing our grief journeys we become more able to reconcile our loss and move toward better days.

We meet on-line via Zoom on the first Thursday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Central Time. We hope to see you then!

These sessions sponsored by HumanistsMN and First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, a humanist congregation. Please consider supporting one or both of these associations to help cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Click on the embedded links above to donate or join.
