Humanist Film Series: "Chocolat"

Details
Join us the second Friday of each month for an entertaining and discussion-worthy movie as part of the Humanist Film Series. Next up, on September 12th, we'll be screening Chocolat (2000, PG-13).
This is a fairy tale of sorts about how outsiders are treated by society and the benefits of inclusivity and tolerance. When an unusual chocolate shop opens in a rural French village, inhibitions are lowered, truths are revealed and, for many, the meaning of ‘home’ is forever changed. Featuring Juliette Binoche, Judi Dench and Johnny Depp, the film was nominated for five Academy Awards.
Snacks will be provided . . . including chocolate, of course. Bring your own beverage of choice. Arrive around 6:30pm for the pre-show meet and greet; the film will start promptly at 7:00pm followed by some post-movie discussion for those who care to linger and mingle. And bring a friend, meet a friend, or come make a new friend!

And, by popular demand, we are announcing in advance plans to screen the very funny Young Frankenstein (1974, PG) for our ‘Halloween’ feature on October 10. This comedy classic from Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder set the bar for parodying Hollywood’s B&W horror films. This is one not to be missed! Same time, same place.
