Nonviolent Communication: Study & Practice Group @ Humanist Community Gathering

Details
- If you find yourself repeating the same conversations with family, friends, or coworkers and feel like you’re not making any progress…
- If you’re experiencing defensiveness or criticism when trying to communicate with others…
- If there are too many arguments, too much conflict, in your life…
Maybe Nonviolent Communication can help you get more connection, satisfaction, and ease in your relationships. Join us regularly, or come as you're able.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Capped at twelve people to allow active practice by all participants.
Nonviolent Communication (aka NVC, Compassionate Communication) is a set of skills that show you how to express yourself in a way others can take in and be more responsive to. Along the way you’ll also increase your ability to tune in to what your needs are and to really hear the people around you.
Our study and practice group will meet the third Saturday of every month, from 3:00 - 4:30 PM and be facilitated by HumanistsMN member, Rebecca. Afterwards, gather with other Saturday session attendees in the gallery for refreshments and socializing.
Prior study or practice is not necessary, though your learning will be enhanced if you have some familiarity with NVC. The book that first introduced this approach is "Nonviolent Communication" by Marshall Rosenberg and is available at your local library or booksellers. Many additional resources exist online.
The group is led by Rebecca, an effective couples therapist (now turned coach). Rebecca has studied and practiced NVC for many years, and though she’s not a certified NVC trainer, she looks forward to meeting with others interested in learning and practicing this transformative approach to getting along better with the people we share our lives with.

If you’re already a dues-paying member, our appreciation for supporting humanism. If you haven’t yet joined, please consider doing so and help contribute to a world that very much needs more reason and compassion. Join, donate, or learn more at https://humanistsmn.org.
