HumanistsMN Fantasy Book Club: "The City We Became" by N.K. Jemisin

Details
PLEASE NOTE SEPTEMBER- We will be meeting at George Latimer Central Library
in the Otto Bremer Community Room (1st floor)
Any and all are welcome at our monthly HumanistsMN Fantasy Book Club! Join us the last Wednesday of every month. Come discuss the book of the month with us -- or listen in and contribute to our frequent meanderings about pop-culture and other passions.
Our book for September is "The City We Became" by N.K. Jemisin. Five New Yorkers must come together in order to defend their city.
Every city has a soul. Some are as ancient as myths, and others are as new and destructive as children. New York City? She's got five.
But every city also has a dark side. A roiling, ancient evil stirs beneath the earth, threatening to destroy the city and her five protectors unless they can come together and stop it once and for all.
Our book club facilitator is Cory Brodeur, HumanistsMN member, who enjoys getting lost in fantasy books, nerdy pop culture discussions, and cats. Cory's goal is to bring people together to bond over fantasy worlds while discussing how we can make positive changes in the real world!
This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. We are a secular non-profit organization with the goal of bettering our community, connecting with others, promoting educational opportunities, and defending basic human rights.
We are 100% volunteer powered. If you want to help give back, consider becoming a member to help us cover costs and bring together the community. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at [HumanistsMN.org](https://humanistsmn.org).
