Humanist Film Series: "Young Frankenstein"
Details
Join us the second Friday of each month for an entertaining and discussion-worthy movie as part of the Humanist Film Series. Next up is Mel Brooks’ hilarious Young Frankenstein (1974, PG).
Snacks will be provided . . . including early Halloween treats. Bring your own beverage of choice. Arrive around 6:30pm for the pre-show meet and greet; the film will start promptly at 7:00pm followed by some post-movie discussion for those who care to linger and mingle.
Join us for this masterful parody of the early B&W Hollywood horror film classics of the 1930s and 1940s that remains fresh and funny today. It features a standout cast in Gene Wilder, Marty Feldman, Teri Garr, Peter Boyle, Madeline Kahn and Chloris Leachman. Though lighthearted in its approach, the film still explores the boundaries of what it is to be human by showing that people’s behavior has the potential to turn us all into ‘monsters’. It also reminds us that laughter may be the most human reaction of all. Put the worries of the world away for a few short hours and join us for an evening of fun and camaraderie.
This film series is co-sponsored by HumanistsMN and First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, a humanist congregation. Please consider supporting one or both of these associations to help cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Click on the embedded links above to donate or join.
