Join us the second Friday of each month for an entertaining and discussion-worthy movie as part of the Humanist Film Series. Next up is The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994, R), a raucous, funny, touching, mind-expanding drag queen road trip through the middle of Australia with music, drama and laughs to spare.

Snacks will be provided but bring your own beverage of choice. Arrive around 6:30pm for the pre-show meet and greet; the film will start promptly at 7:00pm followed by some post-movie discussion for those who care to linger and mingle.

Starring Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terrence Stamp, this colorful, campy and controversial film will imprint itself on your frontal lobe. You may never think of Abba in the same way again. FYI -- The film was made into a Broadway musical in 2011 and still tours globally to this day.

Also, be sure to mark your calendar for December 12 when we’ll be showing Scrooge (1970, G), one of the most singularly ‘humanist’ films ever made. This version of A Christmas Carol, featuring Albert Finney as Ebeneezer, seems to have flown under the radar and is known by few – but it’s really quite excellent. Not to be missed!

This film series is co-sponsored by HumanistsMN and First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, a humanist congregation. Please consider supporting one or both of these associations to help cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Click on the embedded links above to donate or join.
