Mindful Living: Managing your mental well-being during the holidays
Details
The holiday season is often described as “the most wonderful time of the year,” but for many it brings many stressful days and challenging encounters. Whether it be navigating family conflict, feeling like an “outsider” amidst dominant cultural norms, caught in the “perfection” trap, or wrestling with bouts of melancholy in the darkening days, the holiday season can take a toll on your mental health.
In this session we will take stock of our holiday mental health, review mindful tips to de-stress, and discuss strategies for shoring up our resilience for whatever is in store for us at this time of year.
We will begin with a short guided meditation followed by discussion. As always, attendees are invited to share their own experiences and lessons with the group.
All are welcome in the spirit of compassion as we seek to support one another toward greater well-being.
Each month we explore a different aspect of mindfulness and its associated practice from a secular humanist and naturalist perspective -- drawing on the experience and wisdom of participants. This month’s session is facilitated by HumanistsMN program coordinator and humanist celebrant, Audrey Kingstrom.
This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. If you are not yet a member, please consider joining to help us cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at humanistsmn.org.
