Secular Grief Support Group ONLINE: Talking about one's grief and loss
Details
Often it's hard for people to understand what someone is going through during a time of grief and loss. Staying connected with friends and family is important as we grieve, but it can be awkward and uncomfortable. So how do you talk to others about what you are feeling -- or what you need after a loss? In this session we will check in with one another on the ups and downs of our grieving and share the challenges of talking to others and staying connected.
We meet online via Zoom on the first Thursday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central Time. Do join us!
This grief group is for those who have experienced the recent or not-so-recent death of a loved one. It is a peer-led group for people with no belief in a higher power or the afterlife. Participants are invited to speak about their own loss and share their current challenges with grief. We offer no professional grief counseling.
Rather than relying on religious beliefs, Humanists cope with grief in various ways, including finding meaning in our loved one’s impact on ourselves and on others, celebrating their lives through sharing and honoring memories, and sharing our stories of grief and loss. We believe that healing is possible, and that in sharing our grief journeys we become more able to reconcile our loss and move toward better days.
These sessions sponsored by HumanistsMN and First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, a humanist congregation. Please consider supporting one or both of these associations to help cover our costs and build the humanist movement. Click on the embedded links above to donate or join.
