Infinite growth cannot be sustained on a finite planet. This is one of the core concepts of Degrowth, an economic theory and social movement arguing that capitalism’s requirement of constant economic growth is the driving force behind climate change and ecological overshoot. Degrowth advocates for a purposeful and humane transition away from consumerism and GDP-based measures of success and toward a system that enables human thriving in balance with ecological limits.

HumanistsMN member Leah Tabbert will give a presentation on the basic theory of Degrowth and lead a discussion about how it might guide our choices and actions as humanists.

The presentation and discussion will be from 3:00—4:30 followed by socializing and refreshments with other Saturday session attendees in the gallery.
