Mindful Living: Civic Virtue amidst Civic Vice
Details
This year, at our country's 250 anniversary, it's been difficult for many of us to celebrate America. As humanists, we'd like to pay tribute to the democratic principles that helped define this country but instead we are obsessed with mourning the distortion of its ideals. What does a worthy "civic virtue" call us to amidst so much vice and villianry.
Join us at this session for a thoughtful and probing discussion of how we can fulfill our civic duty and practice common decency in these demoralizing times. We will look to people, groups, readings, and poetry that inspire us and give us hope. Do we have the presence of mind and strength of character to respond appropriately as concerned, mindful citizens?
Join us for our monthly Mindful Living session as we support one another in putting our humanism into practice. As always, we will begin with a short, guided meditation followed by discussion -- drawing on the experience and wisdom of participants. This month’s session is facilitated by HumanistsMN program coordinator and humanist celebrant, Audrey Kingstrom.
