What we’re about
This group is sponsored by HumanistsMN, which brings together people who, without supernatural beliefs, aspire to lead lives of personal fulfillment and contribute to the greater good of humanity and the planet through reason, science, compassion, and creativity.
If you believe in those principles or are interested in learning about them or want to help others learn about humanism join us for our meetings, events, and social times.
We usually have a regular Humanist Community Gathering on the 3rd Saturday of the month but will send out a reminder to members when the topic/speaker is set (or check the calendar!).
In addition, there are many other smaller meetups during the month.
Meetings are open to anyone who is interested in humanism and wants to meet other humanists. But please considering joining HumanistsMN to help support us financially and build the power of humanism in our society. Join here!

See all- Humanists in Action: Spring Highway CleanupHoliday Station Store, Circle Pines, MN
Time again for our semi-annual highway cleanup. This is a great opportunity to show Humanists at work in the community. We pick up trash between mile markers 38 and 39.5 on I-35W. Bags and reflective vests will be provided. Participants should bring a pair of work gloves and wear clothing and footwear suitable for working outdoors. This event will be held unless the weather is prohibitive--for instance, thunderstorms or extreme heat. A large turnout means we finish sooner and have more time to socialize, so please join us!
We meet at the Holiday station store, located at exit 36 of Interstate 35W at Highway 23 (right turn from 35W northbound). This is the last exit on 35W going north, five miles before it joins 35E, and is about nine miles north of 35W and I-694.
We are usually finished by noon, after which participants are invited to join us for lunch and good conversation at the Rusty Cow Family Restaurant, formerly know as Matthew's. It's located several miles south at 2 South Pine Drive, Circle Pines, MN 55014.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jerry at smithgerald1001@gmail.com.

- Habits of Humanism: Mindful EatingNorth Regional Library, Minneapolis, MN
Join us for a discussion of how mindfulness can be applied to the act of eating. Mindful Eating has many benefits, including greater enjoyment of food, the potential to eat less due to greater satisfaction, and fewer digestive ailments. We will discuss the many barriers to eating mindfully in the modern world and potential strategies for overcoming those barriers.
Each month we explore a different aspect of mindfulness and its associated practice from a secular humanist and naturalist perspective - drawing on the experience and wisdom of participants.
This month's session is facilitated by Registered Dietitian, Karen Rowehl, MS, RDN, LD, CLT, CPT. While employed as an Outpatient Clinical Dietitian at Park Nicollet Melrose Center, Karen taught mindful eating skills to patients struggling with Binge Eating Disorder for over ten years.
