What we’re about
This group is sponsored by HumanistsMN, which brings together people who, without supernatural beliefs, aspire to lead lives of personal fulfillment and contribute to the greater good of humanity and the planet through reason, science, compassion, and creativity.
If you believe in those principles or are interested in learning about them or want to help others learn about humanism join us for our meetings, events, and social times.
We usually have a regular Humanist Community Gathering on the 3rd Saturday of the month but will send out a reminder to members when the topic/speaker is set (or check the calendar!).
In addition, there are many other smaller meetups during the month.
Meetings are open to anyone who is interested in humanism and wants to meet other humanists. But please considering joining HumanistsMN to help support us financially and build the power of humanism in our society. Join here!

HumanistsMN Fantasy Book Club: MORT by Terry Pratchett
Riverview Library, 1 George Street East, Saint Paul, MN, USNote* We are back at Riverview St. Paul Library!
Any and all are welcome at our monthly HumanistsMN Fantasy Book Club! Join us the last Wednesday of every month. Come discuss the book of the month with us -- or listen in and contribute to our frequent meanderings about pop-culture and other passions.
Our book for September is "MORT" by Sir Terry Pratchett.
Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job.
Death is the Grim Reaper of the Discworld, a black-robed skeleton with a scythe who ushers souls into the next world. He is also fond of cats and endlessly baffled by humanity. Soon Death is yearning to experience what humanity really has to offer, but to do that, he'll need to hire some help.
It's an offer Mort can't refuse. As Death's apprentice he'll have free board, use of the company horse—and being dead isn't compulsory. It's a dream job—until Mort falls in love with Death's daughter, Ysabell, and discovers that your boss can be a killer on your love life…Our book club facilitator is Cory Brodeur, HumanistsMN member, who enjoys getting lost in fantasy books, nerdy pop culture discussions, and cats. Cory's goal is to bring people together to bond over fantasy worlds while discussing how we can make positive changes in the real world!
This event is sponsored by HumanistsMN. We are a secular non-profit organization with the goal of bettering our community, connecting with others, promoting educational opportunities, and defending basic human rights.
We are 100% volunteer powered. If you want to help give back, consider becoming a member to help us cover costs and bring together the community. Not ready to join? Donations are gratefully accepted! Join or donate at HumanistsMN.org.
