Please join us for a talk by Luke Anderson where he will discuss AU’s current legal cases, with a particular focus on public-education cases. He will explain how the Constitution prohibits government officials from engaging in religious favoritism and religious coercion, and he’ll discuss ongoing threats to the separation of church and state. He’ll also answer questions about AU’s legal work and the landscape of church–state separation.

As a litigator at Americans United, Luke has focused on cases involving public schools and school funding. He earned his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. At Columbia, he was an honors student and a recipient of the Jane Marks Murphy Prize for excellence in clinical offerings. Luke also served as the Executive Notes Editor on the Columbia Law Review, as an editor for the Asylum and Refugee Law Moot Court, and as an extern for the Honorable Denny Chin of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Luke earned a B.A. in History and Communication Studies from the University of Minnesota. He enjoys/tolerates long-distance running, and he’ll forever find himself disappointed by his favorite Minnesota sports teams.
