Castro Peak

Greetings All time for another hike. This time lets go to Castro Peak, 2528 feet. To get there take the 10 west to where it turns into Pacific Coast hwy. Take PCH north to Corral  Canyon Rd. Turn Right onto Corral Canyon rd and take it to its end. The last hundred feet or so will be a dirt road.  There is a small parking lot there at the end. Park in the parking lot.  vicinity. Hike is estimated to be about 3.5 miles and about a 600 foot elevation gain/loss. We can not get to the peak itself as it has been "privately" owned since about 1999. We can however go right up to the chain across the road and many signs warning tresspassers to stay out. The sights and panoramas on the trail are great. There are also some interesting rock formations along another trail we can go look at as well. Hope to see you there.  Norman

It was an excellent hike aobut 20 or so people showed up. Went right up to the gate across the trail that the alledged owner put up to keep out tresspassers for the privately owned public land. just to show how mean this guy is you will not inone of the pictures that was taken a red and white sign tht says "NO Tresspassing". I took that picture on jan 28. ON the day of the hike on Feb 4 that same sign had a locked gate in front of it and it was topped by razor wire. it went up with the space of 6 days.
