ABOUT THE MUSICIANS:
LARRY REDHOUSE
Larry Redhouse, born in Monterey, California on August 9, 1959, has been playing piano for over thirty years. Not surprisingly, Larry comes from a family of exceptional musicians (Larry is the youngest of three brothers and two sisters) who were immersed in music from early childhood. His father, of the Navajo Nation and his mother who is Filipino, encouraged each of the six siblings to develop their musical skills.
At an early age, Larry demonstrated his talent and love for playing the piano and he cites several influences. Inspired by the hippie movement of the mid-sixties, and the music of bands such as the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Santana, Larry was motivated to learn Latin percussion, drums and trumpet. He always knew his forte was in jazz stylings, and he would incorporate the combination of many influences, such as fusion, traditional jazz, Latin and funk into his music. Larry's original compositions continue to be affected by his appreciation for these styles.
Larry is a fresh and original musical voice and brings an honest message of deep, emotional musical expression. He has never sought to be a "fad musician". He hasn't wavered in his vision of improvising and playing through life's song, with his heart.
Larry's sound has evolved into a modern sound of mature, original jazz innovation, with an edge of raw creative energy. He utilizes the timeless format of the acoustic piano. Then, with a slight twist, from his arsenal of electronic keyboards, he adds colorfully natural synth sounds, giving the compositions added depth."Listening to Larry is like hearing all the great keyboard players of fusion jazz's primal infancy - Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul and Keith Jarrett." – Daniel Buckley, Music Critic

EVAN DAIN
Evan is a San Francisco Bay area native whose first instrument was the guitar, his playing mainly influenced by the blues, Bluegrass and Django Reinhardt. Evan began playing the bass in high school, along with the Banjo and Mandolin. He was a music major in college for three years before entering the Navy for a three year stint. Afterwards he began playing professionally throughout Northern California, picking up the trombone and tuba. Residing then in New Orleans as a union musician, he performed and toured with Banu Gibson, Hal Smith and John Gill. Evan returned to the Bay area in 1991. Moving to Tucson in 1996, Evan has been active as a performer, arranger and producer. He is a member of the popular “Hot Club of Tucson.”

DOWELL DAVIS
Dowell Davis - “D” to his fellow players, has graced national and international stages with his drumming since 1983. Having professionally played a variety of musical styles from Zydeco to Jazz, Funk to Blues, and Rock to R & B, D has an innate understanding of grooving. He is a clinician at the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in Tempe and Gilbert, AZ, and also lays drum tracks for the Line 6 Amp Company.
Dowell has toured with George Benson, Jimmy Smith, Buckwheat Zydeco, Mark Whitfield, Terrance Simien, and Wayne Toups. He has performed with Francine Reed, Papa John DeFrancesco, Joey DeFrancesco, Nick Manson, Jack McDuff, Stevie Wonder, Marion Meadows, Joanie Sledge (of Sister Sledge), Wessell Andersen, Wynton Marsalis, Jermaine Stewart, David Torkanowski, Carl Lewis, Skip Scarbourough, Lonnie Youngblood, Khani Cole, George Young, Artie Shroek, Patti Austin, David Garfield, Michael O'Neill, and Randy Waldman. Dowell has also worked with some heavy bassists: Reginald Veal, Jimmy Woody, George Porter, Mel Brown, John Clayton, Stanley Banks, Bobby Vega, Ed Frieland, and Chuck Rainey.

Directions: Sacred Grounds is located in the auditorium of Scottsdale Congregational United Church of Christ, 4425 N. Granite Reef Rd., Scottsdale, AZ between Indian School & Camelback Roads. From the 101 take the Indian School Rd. exit and turn west and go to the second light (Granite Reef Rd.) and turn right. The church is on the East side of the street, just south of Camelback Rd.
