The talk will delve into the factors that sparked the protests, the profound underlying reasons why the Islamic Republic enforces mandatory hijab for women, and how these demonstrations have transformed into a widespread revolution that encompasses far more than just the issue of hijab. She will share her view of the hypocrisy of those who claim to support freedom while only giving lip service to the Iranian people's struggle.

Susanna will describe the efforts of Atheist Republic, in assisting the people of Iran. She will share details of their exciting project, Operation Iranian Renaissance, which aims to support those inside Iran as they fight for their freedom. Through this initiative, Atheist Republic seeks to promote free expression and enlightenment values in Iran.

Our Speaker: Susanna McIntyre, an ex-Catholic atheist, currently serves as the President & CEO of Atheist Republic, the world's largest community of atheists. Atheist Republic is a non-profit organization with entities in the U.S. and Canada, and local chapters spanning 70 countries worldwide.

Her primary focus is on championing free expression and raising awareness about the perils of global blasphemy laws. Following the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Kurdish-Iranian woman at the hands of the Iranian Morality Police in 2022, Susanna has become deeply committed to the fight for freedom in Iran. She has actively worked towards raising awareness about the oppressive conditions in the country and advocating for the rights of the Iranian people.
