March for Our Lives - San Jose
March For Our Lives San José is a student-led grassroots movement working to bring attention to the need for a more comprehensive response to gun violence, particularly for the purpose of school safety. High school students who are horrified by gun-related carnage nationwide and have heeded the national call to action motivating legislators to view this issue as one that could impact any American. After the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, it is clear that tragedies like this could happen anywhere and that lawmakers need to act now. Making students feel safe in school is not, and never should be, a partisan issue. On March 24th, 2018, students, teachers, and community members across the country will take to the streets in a united effort to demand that safety be a priority for our lawmakers. If you, too, believe in the need for unity against the ongoing threat of gun violence, we hope that you will march alongside community members for a future which promises to protect the generation entering adulthood, and all those who come after. Fran and Jim Naylor, our Social Action Co-Chairs, will be at San Jose City Hall, standing under the flagpoles holding a rainbow umbrella, beginning at 10:15 am. Find them there, so you can march with the Humanist Community in Silicon Valley. RSVP in order to receive updates, and be sure to look for Fran and Jim on Saturday, March 24, at San Jose City Hall. NOTE: Approximately 30 to 40 people attend the Forum each Sunday. Because Forums happen every Sunday, most of our members do not RSVP on Meetup, so don't let our RSVP count fool you.

Other weekly programs include the Free Thought Discussion Group ( ( every Wednesday night at 7:30pm, and the Academic Video Group ( ( every Thursday night at 8pm.

Monthly events include a Potluck, a meeting of The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Women's Group on the third Saturday at 2pm, workshops (see the calendar for classes and schedules), and our Fun Group ( ), which organizes a "fun" activity around the first of each month.

We hope to welcome you soon to the Sunday Forum or one of our other events. If you would like to suggest a topic for our Forum series, please send a message to the organizers (Brian and/or Debbie). We would love to help you share your enthusiasm for a topic, a speaker, a social action project, a fun outing, etc., with other community members.

Humanists have more fun... together!
