Join us in person or online. Today we will watch two videos about communication with people on the other side of the political divide.
Jordan Klepper will give his take on how to save democracy in an 8-minute video: https://www.ted.com/talks/jordan_klepper_a_comedian_s_take_on_how_to_save_democracy. Klepper is a comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor and television host. He is a contributor and host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. He is also a two-time Emmy nominee and Walter Cronkite Award winner for various docu-specials.
Then, in the 17-minute video, https://www.ted.com/talks/samar_ali_and_clint_brewer_how_to_bridge_political_divides_from_two_friends_on_opposing_sides, TED host Cloe Shasha Brooks will interview liberal law professor Samar Ali and conservative public-affairs strategist Clint Brewer about respect and communication.
Samar Ali is a research professor of political science and law at Vanderbilt University, the founding President and CEO of Millions of Conversations and co-chair of the Vanderbilt Project on Unity & American Democracy.
Clint Brewer is a business executive with deep experience in media, nonprofits, professional sports, government and public affairs consulting at the state and national levels. He specializes in media relations, government relations, integrated campaigns and crisis communications. He is founder and principal of the public affairs consultancy Imperium Public Strategies.
