New Book
We have chosen a new book. We have chosen a new book: "The Worm at the Core", by Sheldon Solomon, 288 pages

Core Premise: Terror Management Theory
From Reviews:• The Existential Conflict: Humans share a basic biological drive to stay alive, yet possess the unique cognitive capacity to realize that death is inevitable.
• The "Worm": This awareness creates a background hum of existential terror. To function without constant panic, humans unconsciously construct cultural worldviews, religions, art, and personal self-esteem as psychological "buffers".
• Symbolic Immortality: Because we cannot live forever physically, we seek immortality through legacies—having children, building empires, creating art, contributing to science, or identifying with a larger group or nation.
