Film and Discussion: 'Queen Kelly'
Gallery of Modern Art
Sunday 9 August, 11am
Join us for a screening of 'Queen Kelly', one of cinema history's most intriguing fragments. The film was so hugely ambitious that production collapsed before it could be completed. According to the Guardian the film is 'a lavish melodrama' presented in 'a new restoration by Dennis Doros that incorporates previously unseen material, and some inventive methods of recreating the film’s grand finale.' The silent film will be accompanied a live organ performance by the gifted David Bailey. This is a chance to share in treasuring human art and creativity, and reflect on the value of institutions like GOMA to our common civic culture. To be followed by discussion at the GOMA Cafe.
Meet 10:45am in the GOMA Cinémathèque foyer for 11am screening.
