What we’re about
Humanists of Fort Worth (www.hofw.org) is a dues-supported organization for atheists and freethinkers in the greater Fort Worth area. We are independent minds seeking truth through empirical evidence, reason, and science, rather than through dogma, tribal folklore, mythology, and superstition. Affiliated with the national organization, the American Humanist Association at www.americanhumanists.org, we are the only local AHA-affiliated organization providing monthly activities and educational sessions of interest to those who live by secular humanist value systems.
Please review our Ten Commitments to better understand our ideals before attending an event: https://americanhumanistcenterforeducation.org/ten-commitments/
Humanism is a philosophy of life that affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives that aspire to the greater good of the world without reference to the supernatural. We agree with Thomas Paine, the Father of the American Revolution, when he said, "My country is the world, and my religion is to do good," and with Robert Ingersoll, "My creed is this: happiness is the only good. The place to be happy is here. The time to be happy is now. The way to be happy is to make others so."
Please join our Meetup group and visit us at one or more of our scheduled education and social events. If you like us, we hope you will become a dues paying member.
To become a member or donate, please visit our website www.hofw.org and select your choice in the top left of the home page. Once you become a member you will be eligible to vote in our annual election and gain access to our private Facebook group where likeminded people chat and share about all things humanism.
All dues paying members have a say and a vote about future speakers, topics, and events and are eligible to run for office at our annual election. Our group is only as good as our members make it.
Our events are held on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. What distinguishes us from other area freethinker groups is that we offer thought-provoking speakers, topics, and community events on a regular basis. Our discussion board will give you samples of some of the topics that interest us:

The Humanists of Fort Worth was granted a chapter charter by the American Humanist Association. We are also an Affiliated Local Group of the Council for Secular Humanism, and a member of the DFW Coalition of Reason, an umbrella organization for freethinker groups in North Texas.
Click the following link if you need the services of a Humanist Minister or Celebrant for weddings, namings, and memorials.
Lastly, help support us and show your solidarity with the humanist community by buying one of our attractive, unique coffee mugs here.
All are welcome to attend our events, but if you are a devotee of some religion, please don't attend for the purpose of proselytizing or discussing your religion. This is a private group created to provide a space that allows nontheists to enjoy the company of other nontheists. In other words, attend if you wish, but please keep your religious beliefs to yourself.
