talk will be "How Tall is Mt. Everest: Science, facts and (un)certainty"

It's common knowledge that Mt. Everest is 29,031 feet tall. We know the Sun will rise in the east in the morning. We know there are no such things as dragons. We know all electrons are identical. How do we come to know what we think we know? How certain can we be?

Scientists, as a group, are the only sorts of people who hand out prizes for figuring out we don't know as much as we might think.

Join us this Sunday the 15th to learn about certainty, science and the value of changing one's mind.
