Join us for a series of lively conversations exploring 'A Secular Humanist Declaration', the landmark 1980 statement that set out a bold vision grounded in reason, free inquiry and human dignity. Across these sessions we'll work through its principles one by one—freedom of the individual, church/state separation, ethics built on empathy and reason, the value of science and skepticism and the case for moral education and human rights—and ask how well they hold up in our own troubled times. We endeavour to run the sessions fortnightly. For our first session, we will set the context for the writing of ‘A Secular Humanist Declaration’ and will walk through and discuss the first section titled ‘Introduction’.
